Against the Grain / Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity - La Bohème Tour Map Animation

In the fall of 2019, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity partnered with Against the Grain Theatre to adapt the French opera La Bohème to a present-day English translation. Diverging from a typical theatre setting, this adaption of La Bohème was instead performed in bars across Canada, beginning in Banff, Alberta, travelling all the way to Toronto, Ontario and ending in Dawson City, Yukon. The Banff Centre's marketing team wanted a fun way to show all the cities and towns the opera was traveling to by way of a fun animation for social media.

This was a really fun project to work on during my Animation Practicum at the Banff Centre. I based my design and colour choices on the poster for this adaptation of the opera - I wanted the map to look hand drawn/painted.
